Legal & Responsible Play

Last updated: 1 September 2025 (AEST)

Bonza Lottery runs low-cost, capped prize draws for Australian adults. We’re committed to operating transparently and in line with Australian laws and best-practice player protections.

Quick summary
  • Age & residency: You must be 18+ and ordinarily reside in Australia.
  • Prize cap: Each draw is capped at $5,000 total prizes.
  • States & territories: Entries are accepted from VIC, NSW, QLD, TAS, WA and NT. ACT requires a permit for prize pools over $3,000 (we will exclude ACT unless we hold an ACT permit for the relevant draw). SA allows trade promotions without a permit up to a $5,000 national prize pool; our cap complies.
  • Fair draws: Winners are selected at random using an independent randomisation service; we maintain verifiable draw records.
  • Responsible play: Set a budget, play for fun, and use our self-exclusion option any time.
  • Privacy first: We use Stripe for payments and publish only the winner’s first name and last-initial.
Our legal basis

Bonza Lottery operates prize draws (games of chance) and complies with applicable Australian laws, including:

  • Australian Consumer Law (ACL) – truthful advertising, clear terms, and fair conduct.
  • State/Territory trade promotion & lottery rules – including prize-value thresholds and local conditions.
  • Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) – handling personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles.
  • Spam Act 2003 – consent-based electronic marketing and easy opt-out.

We do not offer wagering, betting or casino-style games. Our draws are capped, low-stakes promotions with transparent rules and audited random selection.

Eligibility & where we operate
  • Eligibility: 18+; Australian residents only; one account per person; we may request ID/age verification.
  • Availability by jurisdiction (summary):
    • VIC, QLD, TAS, WA: No permit required for trade promotions; our capped draws proceed normally.
    • NSW: No permit required up to a total prize pool of $10,000; our $5,000 cap complies.
    • SA: No permit required where the national prize pool is ≤ $5,000; our $5,000 cap complies.
    • ACT: Permit required above $3,000; we will exclude ACT entries unless a permit is in place for that draw.
    • NT: No permit required for prize pools ≤ $5,000.
  • Changes: Laws can change. We update availability and our Terms as required.
Responsible play

Bonza is designed as affordable entertainment. Please play responsibly:

  • Set a personal budget for entries and stick to it.
  • Do not chase losses or view prizes as income.
  • Only play with money you can afford to spend.
  • Self-exclusion: Ask us any time to block your account from future draws.

Support & helplines (24/7):

Fairness, draws & audits
  • Random draws: Winners are selected via a reputable third-party randomisation service. We keep time-stamped records (seed, list of eligible entries, and result).
  • Publication: We publish winner initials (e.g., “Alex T.”) and the relevant draw ID for transparency.
  • Conflicts: Our team and close household members are ineligible to enter.
  • Errors & contingencies: If a technical or compliance issue affects a draw, we may cancel and refund entries or re-run the draw using a valid entry list and a new randomisation record.
Payments, refunds & disputes
  • Payments: Entries are processed through Stripe Checkout. We do not store card numbers.
  • Refunds: Entry purchases are generally final and non-refundable, except where required by law or if Bonza cancels a draw before completion.
  • Chargebacks: Suspicious or fraudulent activity may result in account suspension and draw disqualification pending review.
  • Disputes: Email us with your order number and draw ID. We aim to respond within 3 business days and resolve within 10 business days wherever possible.
Privacy & data handling
  • Data we use: name, email and payment metadata (via Stripe). We publish only first name + last initial of winners.
  • Security: Access-controlled systems, HTTPS, and reputable third-party providers (e.g., Stripe).
  • Your rights: Access, correction, deletion, and marketing opt-out on request.
  • Cookies/analytics: Used to run the site and understand usage. You can manage cookies via your browser.

See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Marketing & communications
  • Transactional emails: We’ll email receipts, draw confirmations and winner notifications.
  • Promotional emails: Sent only with consent and always include an unsubscribe link.
